Mother's Day Gift DIY

Mother's Day Gift DIY

It's almost Mother's Day, can you believe it? Do you have anything special planned for the occasion? If you're stuck on what to give your mum for Mother's Day, don't worry! We've got your back! Follow along in this tutorial to see how we customized a simple pouch/pencil case using fabric paint!

Materials:

  1. Pouch (or any item you want to decorate)
  2. Fabric paint
  3. Palette
  4. Scrap paper
  5. Paintbrushes

We wanted our pencil case to be unique and really personal, so we painted a simple, geometric portrait of Mummy dearest 😍 To get started, scoop out the fabric paint onto your palette. If you don't have a palette, you can use scrap paper, or even a plastic tupperware lid. Before you start painting, remember to place a piece of paper or cardboard between the layers of the pouch, just in case the paint bleeds through to the other side.

The trick is to identify your mum's identifying features (hair, eyes, nose) and simplify the shapes. We used a limited colour scheme of blue, white, and purple because we wanted that modern, pop art look.

After that, it's just a matter of letting the paint dry, and wrapping it up in some pretty wrapping paper. Mum loved it, and we really think it resembles her!

There you have it: an adorable, customized pouch for Mum! We find that the best gifts are often simple, practical, and fun to make. Putting a little effort into your gift and adding your own personal touch makes it so more special and meaningful than any expensive trinket out there. We hope you enjoyed this simple and sweet DIY! Until next time, happy Mother's Day, and happy crafting!
