Today marks the first of many What’s In Your Bag? posts, and we’re excited to bring you a peek into the bag of Juliah, one part Quirky Brown Cow, the other part true friend and partner to adorable counterpart, Azlini. We at Gin & Jacqie feel that to get to know someone, you really must dig through their handbags. Needless to say, the welcome has been far from uninviting, right up ’til the point that we met dear Juliah, who willingly allowed us in.

What are your daily essentials that you rarely run around town without?
I recently got a hold of one of your bags, actually… The Organize Maggie with zippered compartment, and the few necessities I carry around in it are our customized QBC pens and notebook, an iPad to jot those notes down when feeling too modern to write, Dove moisturizer and facial cleanser (for those long work nights ahead!), Boots lavender hand cream, Victoria’s Secret Bombshell body lotion, Soap & Glory body butter (you must think I’m a well-planned nomad by now…), a whole bunch of Fresh Sugar lip treatments, the basics of a makeup kit, and of course, Sephora express cleansing wipes for that squeaky clean feel.

How did Quirky Brown Cow come about?
Well, we actually started out in 2009 as a blogshop that catered to the kitschy niche of the fashionable crowd. Since then, we’ve garnered enough lovely and loyal customers to brave ourselves into an actual boutique located in the heart of popular shopping district, Bangsar Baru. Clothing and accessories are lovingly curated from around the globe, with vintage-chic always in mind, even to the point of depicting our dream interior and layout. We’ve established a rather whimsical European hideaway, ceiling-strung racks and old English phone booths as dressing rooms, not to mention the little odds and ends you will find strewn around the space… all to whisk you away into that little dream shopping vacation of ours!

Let’s take a step back from QBC… What were you doing before this?
I’ve always been a fashionably inclined person, so majoring in Fashion Marketing at Raffles Design Institute was my first step into the industry. Since then, I’ve gone from being winged under the likes of the gentlemanly Dato’ Lewre Lew himself, to working alongside M-iFW founder Syeba Yip, to being a part of Pavilion’s amazing Advertising and Branding department. After all that, Azlini and I decided to combine our dreams of owning a boutique and launch QBC.

Where can fans of your online store find you?
Nowadays, you can always find me in our new home in Bangsar Baru. Working in that area is such great fun, what with all the interesting people you’d meet along the way, not to mention the vast array of eateries! That’s why my bag is always filled with scrubs and lotions and sanitizers… I’m rarely ever anywhere else, haha!
