If we’ve been awfully quiet, it’s because we packed our Gin & Jacqie bags and flown them all the way down under for the big Bags & Accessories trade show happening from the 10th until the 12th! Thanks to the feedback of so many Aussie customers that have been purchasing from us throughout the years, we decided to officially introduce the brand in Australia. And what better way to do it than to be among peers of our kind from all over the world?
We’ll be updating our Instagram feed as much as we can, so do follow us via our Instagram account on this grand adventure down under! In the meantime, here’s some pictures from our sneak away to Koh Lipe last week

As the mom in the group, I tend to find holidays more of a hassle than a calming relaxation. While I can’t control how the kids would react to new environments and different situations, I can, however, try my best to keep organized and lessen the chaos that will ensue. Hence, when the new travel stocks arrived in the office, I did all but dive right into the boxes to dig out my favorite colors to bring to me on my short weekend away for a quick test run! I decided on two products: the revamped Tidy Anne with new prints and colors, as well as our latest Bailey Travel Kit, a multifunctional group of bags that makes traveling that much easier.

The Bailey Travel Kit comes in a compact pouch of its own, and in it consists of three separate bags of three different sizes. The smallest of the three drawstring pouches is for toiletries, which came to good use when I had to hoard all those toiletries that came with the hotel room! The second is a shoe bag, which my husband gladly used to keep his new shoes clean. And the third is a huge laundry bag, which I used to store all out wet swimsuits since all three bags are waterproof. The Bailey Kit was useful in a sense that I had everything in its place, and the minute I got home, I managed to unpack within minutes!

The second product that I brought along with me on my mini trip away was our Tidy Anne undergarments bag. It has pockets on both side, and its netting insert buttons into place and is easily removed to be thrown into your washing machine, keeping your undergarments safe. After thirteen years of marriage, I don’t own any sexy lingerie that could use careful handling, but I liked having a place to keep all my used undergarments, as unglamorous as that may sound. Again, it made unpacking so quick, and because of the netting insert, I don’t even have to transfer my underwire bras into my usual washing netting. And I’m so in love with the bright colors they came in!
So yes, while I barely got any sleep thanks to the two kids not getting along, I managed to ease a little stress with a bit of trendy organization. We’ve been looking for a way to redesign our previous packaging of just basic plastic coverings for our bags. We tried various samples, from canvas, to netting, to an array of other forms of plastic. However, while design mattered to us, so did functionality and cost efficiency. So we decided on recyclable PVC, and we designed it in the form of an easy ziplock bag that could be hung for convenient display at stores, and also reusable to our customers.
Below are a few ways you can reuse our new packaging.

Here is a shot of its semi-translucent front, used with its intended content.

Since we travel a lot for work, we had to test out its durability as a travel buddy. It fits most travel bottles, makeup pouches, and more, and is compact and suitable for hand carry as well as smooth luggage checks.

Of course, we can’t forget our beloved flats and sandals for long shopping trips. Using the packaging to store your footwear keeps the rest of your luggage free from dirt.

For all you moms on-the-go, our new recyclable and reusable packaging keeps diapers fresh and neat in your handbags or baby bags. Easy to transfer, light to carry, and keeps you organized. Fits most wet wipes, too.

Recently, I went on a beachside picnic with my family, and the one inconvenience and hassle that I found in the otherwise fun activity was keeping all my daughter’s snacks intact and away from the sand. Throwing them into a grocery bag or a travel bag only got sand all over everything. I also hated digging through such a huge pile just to get one specific item. Therefore, last weekend I tried my luck carrying her stash out in our new packaging. Not only did it fit her usual treats perfectly, it was surprisingly easy to clean. I used another for small toys, and it made the trip much more organized.
So we’ve tried and tested our new packaging… Tell us what you think!

Being an avid traveler of the world (though I rarely travel nowadays thanks to responsibilities of being a working mom!), I adore making the plans that will eventually bring me home in a city that I will grow to know. Seeing my insane enthusiasm to find accommodations anywhere, my friends consider me their personal Agoda page, too eager to search and too cheap to please. Still, when a couple of friends from Aussie asked for recommendations of affordable accommodations in KL, I drew a complete blank. In fact, I didn’t even know where to begin except for the overtly exuberant names such as Hilton, The Marriot, Westin.
And then I came across a hostel so aptly named for those of us lost within our own homes; BackHome.

all pictures taken from BackHome website
Though its modernistic walls are seemingly targeted at the “affluential backpacker” (pardon my coining such a term, but in this generation of wealthy hipsters living it poor as a trend for the Instagram-better, it seemed rather appropriate a term to coin) and completely unaware of the nearby rundowns of a basic hostel, the diligence in sleek details runs straight through its surprisingly affordable rates and the convenience it draws within its location. In fact, customers are practically ripping them off with the prices provided! Simple, understated, and homely combined into an interior layout with just the right amount of comfort and class.

And if that wasn’t enough, coffee lovers can rejoice in the fact that this little gem of a hostel hosts a little gem of its own, LOKL (pronounced LOCAL) Coffee Co. I was so eager to hop on by for a cuppa that I failed to research its operating days (only opens on weekdays during office hours), therefore another trip over is required. Needless to say, my friends will be checking in to BackHome come August
Who said there’s nothing new in their own backyard has obviously not found the bunny hole that hides it all…

Jacqie, the petite owner of our brand, has this annoying trait of eating everything but gaining nothing. Yes, you do detect a hint of envy. Recently, on her trip to California, she sent me a picture of every In-N-Out burger she had throughout those few weeks, perhaps to torture me, perhaps to share the goodness. Now, we all know In-N-Out burgers are quite the must-have accessory on every foodie’s list. And just by looking at the pictures, I must admit that Jacqie may just be right on this one; “the freshness and the quality of the burger is just to die for!”

Jacqie’s favorite (and subject of every torturous picture she Whatsapped me during my month of attempted diet) is the Cheeseburger. That tiny woman can actually engulf two in a row!

Not much resides on their menu, but everything on it is good, especially the milkshakes. The quirky part of In-N-Out that really piques at my curiosity is the fact that there is a ” not-so secret menu” which you can find it on their site. So if you are ever on the West Coast of USA, you MUST try their burger. Highly recommended to the bite by Jacqie, the foodie.

Though Malaysians aren’t generally big fans of basketball (that is, until Linsanity), I was given the nice surprise of watching a game live between Raptors and Lakers during my short trip to Toronto

Both teams doing their warm ups before the start of the game.

The great Kobe Bryant doing the penalty shot. Boy is he good !! He ain’t call a star for nothing.

Final score : Lakers 94 – Raptors 92. Was such an exciting game. Watching live basketball is something one should do at least once in your life (yes, we ladies must watch once) The adrenaline and the vibe in the stadium is just something else!!
