You know those Godforsaken maternity jeans you once wore during your fattest of days? Instead of letting them go to waste or throwing them out, use them to house the next most important baby in your life: your laptop. Yup. No, not another baby… I’ve come to learn that babies are so expensive that yes, you have to make your own laptop covers just to “cover” (muahahaha) the additional expenses and diapers overload.

All you’ll need are those crappy maternity jeans, the ones with the ugly elastics on the top. Granted, mine were a pretty decent pair from Gap, but eh I don’t need another reminder that I’m fat sitting amongst my skinny jeans from way back when.

First you split the jeans into half by cutting the middle seam apart. Then, depending on your laptop width and length, cut across to form a rectangular shape. My laptop is 15″ and my butt in those jeans uber huge, so all I had to do was cut across according to the end of the crotch. If your jeans are small or your laptop huge, then Houston you have a problem.

Next, just sew the sides together, leaving the elastic bit as the opening of your laptop cover. And you’re done! Of course, you can be super hardworking and make a lining for it, but otherwise it’s pretty much secure and comfy.

Thanks to the elasticity that comes in both the denim and the tummy band, you needn’t make a closure… it should fit snugly. The pockets can be used to hold pens and small notebooks, making this one handy dandy office to go. And yes, I could’ve come up with a better name for this post, but the notion of a pregnant laptop  sounds way more entertaining.

Sadly, it’s only open to those of you residing within Aussie, so the rest of us will just have to wait for these to hit the online store.

With the Resort 2011 collections out and a demure demand for animal prints, it’s no wonder that the lookbooks are teasing our wild side to come out and play. Graphic dots and raging stripes and muted statements are fast approaching a friendly state of mind, far from the cry of gaudy and uninspired – nature is back on the right path, and boy are we pleased!
