We are completely and utterly smitten by these embroidered mini pouches by Yumiko Higuchi, and we are completely and utterly devastated that they’re all sold out! Cheri, our in-house illustrator, could die for that whale pouch, so here’s to hoping they’re restocked ASAP, if only for the wellbeing of our whale-loving illustrator.

We’re truly inspired by LA-based artist Seonna Hong’s usage of paint chips as canvases to home her freeform style of swiftly stroked scenic painting, clustered ever so casually against the detailed contrast of the characters of each scene.  Such depth within the simple lines of conflicting colors.

Taking a page out of the fame that grew from The Girl Who Loves To Levitate, Onitsuka Tiger has revealed its Spring/Summer 2013 campaign which features models levitating through scenes of Tokyo streets. Fresh colors, a hop and skip in the air, and the light frisk that a walk can bring, Studio NAM has kept to their signature style of levitating photography while bringing to life the comfort that is Onitsuka Tiger shoes. Check out the making of video below:

Maybe one day, we’ll be able to afford a photoshoot this fun and lavish! Dream big, peeps… dream big :)

Pinokio from adambd on Vimeo.

If you’ve ever wanted an interactive desk lamp, well today is your lucky day! We found this amazing vimeo of Pinokio, a robot that is designed and used for study of behavioral characteristics that could develop in artificial intelligence, and the results are astounding as it shows traits as well as reactions likened to those of animals. Don’t be fooled by the jerkiness of its movement that this is a stop motion video, Pinokio is real. To find out more about Pinokio, visit its website.

Immerse yourself in the dairy-free originality of Beatrice Menis’ take-away packaging for the lactose intolerant. Such a delightful way of branding for the niche!

Something simple for this hump day, just because it’s been an exhausting week and we could really do with some idealistic notebooks slashed with light profanities stacked around the office to brighten up the hectic of a schedule. Tutorial by Radical Possibility.

We’ve been really quiet, but that’s just because we’ve been busy moving out and up! So much has been happening at the Gin&Jacqie office, and boxes are stacked taller than the few of us combined. After all that hard work, we’re finally into our new office and warehouse space, and though we’re far from making it look Etsy-becoming, this is a milestone worth sharing :)

Just some behind-the-scene pictures from our chaotically productive two weeks:

Besides moving, we also managed a successful launch for UNHCR (can’t stop thanking everyone for the overwhelming support!), and we’ve upgraded our display space at Czip Lee with a bright and dotty backsplash (apologies for the blur picture, hands were filled with toddler). If you happen to pop by at our favorite local stationery shop, do check it out and purchase a UNHCR bag for charity. We’ve also been sampling new packagings for our bags, and will post sneak peeks of the final sample soon!

It’s hard to believe how far we’ve come, from one little organizer to many big things. And it truly is a blessing to grow with you guys :)

New York-based photographer Ignacio Torres brings an altered perception to his works, causing a celestial-inspired combustion of artful living to shoot through the dark like a beautiful burst of light. “This project began from the theory that humans are made of cosmic matter as a result of a stars death. I created imagery that showcased this cosmic birth through the use of dust and reflective confetti to create galaxies. The models organic bodily expressions as they are frozen in time between the particles suggest their celestial creation. In addition, space and time is heightened by the use of three-dimensional animated gifs. Their movement serves as a visual metaphor to the spatial link we share with stars as well as their separateness through time.” – Ignacio Torres

These amazing photos are the amazing results of art/design collective NAM for the Harbour City Chocolate Trail, a charity project for the Hong Kong Blood Cancer Foundation. The series uses their signature method of suspending objects and people with strings and cables to create weightless environments. See many more photos and behind the scenes videos of the project here.

We are in the midst of refurnishing our mini office, and after seeing Refinery29′s work pad featured on Design*Sponge, I’m so tempted to persuade Jacqie into letting us draw on walls and egg crate the call room… not that we even have a call room, but whatever. We’ll let logistics handle that unaware area in this dream space of mine.
