Following our introduction to the first Artist Collection collaboration, this week’s What’s In Your Bag? guest is none other than our first artist, Su Lin. Mother of three and artist by blood, Su Lin finds the time to work on her creativity in many aspects, one of which being painting through the heart and soul.

1.What is the most important thing in your bag?

Without a doubt, my handphone is most essential to me, not to mention my Moleskine diary. I write down all my appointments and dates inside as well as my children’s schedule and their extra curriculum activities inside. Also, you’ll never know when a good sketch is going to come your way ;)

2. As a busy mom of three, do you find it hard to get organized?

Not really, I’ve grown accustomed to the ins-and-0uts of juggling my daily schedule. Great bags like Gin & Jacqie’s do help ease the traveling quite a bit! Also, never underestimate the importance of that handphone! Just to be in touch with people and especially for my kids to get hold of me or in case of any emergencies!

3. Besides the inevitable itch to paint, what is your favourite past time?

Tennis! I can play tennis everyday :) Of course I love to bake and decorate cakes. I will bake anything from bread, to muffins and to cakes. It’s very therepeutic in some ways, and a completely different form of art on its own. My close ones are regularly playing guinea pigs to my endeavors, but I find that these activities really bring me closer to friends and family alike. It just makes me happy.

The Artist Collection is available for purchase at Gin & Jacqie, and if you would like a custom designed painting by Su Lin, email us at info@ginjacqie.com for more details!

We just revealed our Artist Collection, a collection of bags that are individually hand drawn and painted by a local artist, Su Lin. She highlighted her free and easy sense of art onto our Jodie Totes, and uses a permanent marker along with acrylics to bring the bubbly animals to life. We’ll be writing more about Su Lin in next week’s What’s In Your Bag?, but for now, check out the rest of her adorable artwork *here*!

So our lovely supplier thought it would be hilarious to give us tokens of his adoration for himself in the form of tees with his photo printed onto them. Needless to say, I will never wear mine, especially not with a growing belly of a baby. Hence, I decided to torment my beloved toddler with it by changing it into a baby tee.

I always love the box shape for tees, and I basically cropped the original tee into half, and got rid the sleeves. Pretty easy, I barely used a ruler. Don’t mind the fabric egg, my daughter – for some odd reason – really wanted to put it onto the tee. I even removed it a few times, but she kept placing it back on -_-”

Twenty minutes later, my bub has a new fangirl top. I made tabs at the sleeves just for a little difference in design. She paraded around with it for a family outing, and boy did she get a lot of attention… not because I did a great job sewing it up, but because of our supplier’s narcissistic picture ;p

I came across this awesome art project that involves Photoshopping your child’s artwork alongside their photographs. The best part is, no matter how much of a noob you are at Photoshop, the link includes a super easy and direct method to creating that ideal picture to be framed in the pride of your living room wall.

These paper flower cone bouquets are so gorgeous that I’m tempted to throw a random tea party just to make and serve them up! Super sweet DIY project via Oh Happy Day!

A friend of mine spent quite a fair bit of cash on a fork bracelet in Melbourne. Since then, I’ve been wanting to make one of my own, and I finally came across a gorgeous ring tutorial with the same concept by Through the Front Door. Now all I need are my mom’s antique cutlery and the keen ability to manipulate silver. Found via.

When I came across these pictures over at Minifanfan, I was blown away with how much difference some patterned masking tape can make to the monotone of a laptop keyboard! This DIY is definitely for the happy people!

This DIY Chalkboard mug tutorial by Wit & Whistle is one I’m definitely going to try out (once I figure out where I can locally purchase a bottle  of Pebeo Porcelain paint, that is). They’d make excellent door gift ideas for a kids artsy party ;)

Apologies for not posting up DIY Wednesday links and projects for so long… it’s been a hectic few months here in the office prepping for the New Year stocks and catalogue. Which is why this week’s DIY Pick of confetti invitations from You Are My Fave is such the simple pleasure to create and give that I’m kicking myself in the head for not thinking of it first.

Argghh potato-stamped polka dot posters by Oh Happy Day!!! I’m so doing this for our Gin&Jacqie office!!
