Hey guys, I just got my namecards from Jacqie, and I was so thrilled that I decided to dedicate this week’s DIY Wednesday to making a namecard purse (sorry, no fancy schmancy name, it is what it is)! Very simple project with minimal sewing necessary, you could even glue the entire thing together if you’re lazy. All you’ll need are a pair of scissors, any fabric that won’t fray – I’m using upholstery PVC – and some pins.

Measure and cut your three pieces… the main body of the purse that’s rectangular with a rounded top, one circular piece, and one small rectangle for the middle of your bow.

Start by folding your small rectangle into half length-wise. Sew in place. Then just use your fingers to gather the circle straight across the middle. Use your sewn piece to hold the gathers together, and just sew the ends of the rectangle together.

This is what it looks like once done. Don’t worry about the tab not being perfectly in the middle of your bow as it’s not secured to one another, hence it’s adjustable. This bow can also be attached by the sewn middle tab to a plain hairband for easy glamor.

Next, take your main base and fold it accordingly. Pin the sides together, making sure you leave the overlap cover alone. Place the bow on top of the front of the purse where your overlap flap will be, and pin the sides into a straight line following the base’s sides. Once you’ve got all the folds to your liking, cut off the excess from the bow. Then just sew the sides together, trim any uneven edges, and you’re done!

Okay, now here’s the part you guys will love. I kinda got carried away with making this purse and made a whole bunch of extras… six, to be exact (yeah I’m a tad obsessive compulsive). Since I’m in a giving mood, I’m gonna share the rest with you guys. To stand a chance to win one, just follow us on our new Twitter account and Tweet this post to your friends. You can also RT our tweet of this post, either way is fine by us. We’ll choose the winners between 11am-5pm, so you can keep trying within those hours.
Good luck!!!

We first noticed Gooseberry Factory back in December, and we’ve been avidly following Jen’s blog – filled with quirky finds and uber cute links – ever since. With the notion of a trinket and a fraction of time, Jen continues to whip up little lavishes that delight the heart, which she sells in her humble Etsy shop.

From vintage-inspired charm bracelets to one-of-a-kind bookmarks made of natural bloodstone beads, Jen finds the simple pleasures in a day through creating her very own dreams.
Today, Jen would like to share three pieces of her dream with you.

All you’ll have to do is finish the following slogan: “Gin & Jacqie gives me gooseberries because….” and leave your slogan here as a comment under this post. Consequently, you could Tweet the slogan at us @ginjacqiemy. The top three slogans will win one of the above handmade bag charms, each made with much love by Jen herself, to accessorize your favorite bags with.
This giveaway will end at noon on Sunday, so get to writing those slogans!
