With a snip and a flicker, some glue and paper, Nazmul Howlader, a Fine Arts graduate from Pratt Institute in New York City, gives new life to an old notebook by filling it with creative collages of thoughtful whimsy. To see more of his work, visit his Behance page.

Always fond of juxtapositions, we’re loving the home of Jason Santa Maria and Megan Born featured on DesignSponge. There is an ease in the mixture of history against modernity, of Finnish against handmade, of organic against architecture. The rooms are decorated in the direct form of basic necessities, with added life by the decorative knick knacks that bring colors and character into clean and organized.

If we were to replicate the design direction of this lovely home, the only thing we’d really change is to switch the bright chair with the dull work desk. Check out our version below:

ROOMS

1. About A Chair by Hay 2. Vintage blue typewriter from Outdated 3. Strut large table 4. Nala green pillow cover 5. Dark grey three-sitter sofa from Ikea 6. Terry Fan for Society6 whale print 7. Vintage turkish kilim rug

shawls

We’ve always appreciated successful rebrandings, and Vova Lifanov truly inspires with this rebranding of a shawl museum that brings an otherwise traditional overview of a product into the chic and modernity of today’s market.

Once upon a time, it was disrespectful and downright gaudy to wear print against print. Even those of matching hues would depict sheer faux pas. But that’s the thing about fashion; it’s a complete contradiction of itself. Today, print on print is the way to impress, and while I’m still a tad reluctant to try it out myself, here’s my take on this current trend, slightly muted with a lot of golds and browns so that the outfit is not drowning my body:

printtt2

1. Baroque printed blouse from Azorias 2. Charles & Keith peep-toe pumps 3. Glamorous Katie multi-purpose bag by Gin & Jacqie 4. Pixie Market drop crotch shorts 5. Diva chunky bracelet

For those who have never visited our office, we actually have a little kitchen area where we all sip tea and nibble on cakes. However, we’re still in the process of decorating the space, and we really want to bring some joy into the white of the room. So this Friday’s picks are all about the childish fun that a kitchen AND a big kid could enjoy ^_^

We are crazy in love with the revamping of this condo kitchen over at Addicted2Decorating, from bare to being the most cozy corner of warm colors and DIY striped throw pillows! The rustic feel of wood meeting the paisley of the blinds converges together to form such a definition to the breakfast nook that is as welcoming as it is bright. And that lime green chandelier!!!

Here’s our take on shabby chic:

shabby

1. Nordal beaded teardrop chandelier 2. Original Impasto oil painting 3. Green antique farm cabinet 4. Custom farmhouse table 5. Aqua striped floral pillowcase 6. Ikea turquoise kitchen trolley

amanda_happe

We love the rawness aggressively attached to the softness of bright and exuberant colors used by Amanda Happé, found via The Jealous Curator. Such fluidity masked within the graphic editing of her work, all of which is contained in a proportionate balancing of images. To see more, check out Amanda’s portfolio site.

We love watching the old embrace the new in the most minimal of ways, never giving away their natural instinct to be as is. Ahhh Lacoste, you’re such the retail inspiration!!

anne_duthie
The fashion designer in me screams for wayyy more Anna Duthie! Anna, a recent graduate of Glasglow School of Art, “specialising in embroidery for fashion. [Her] work reflects an appreciation of pattern, surface embellishment, contrasting textures and colour.” Dark with a keen understanding of textures and textiles, there is a calm simplicity in the way she balances dreamy creativity.
