Travel Diary: Basketball Fever

Though Malaysians aren’t generally big fans of basketball (that is, until Linsanity), I was given the nice surprise of watching a game live between Raptors and Lakers during my short trip to Toronto :)

The great Kobe Bryant doing the penalty shot. Boy is he good !! He ain’t call a star for nothing.

Final score : Lakers 94 – Raptors 92.  Was such an exciting game. Watching live basketball is something one should do at least once in your life (yes, we ladies must watch once) The adrenaline and the vibe in the stadium is just something else!!

Travel Diary: Chris Burden

URBAN LIGHT One of the best photo ops in LA is among the 202 vintage streetlamps collected by artist Chris Burden. Just outside of LACMA.I’s even more beautiful at night

METROPLIS II, 2011 by Chris Burden. Made from all kinds of material like DC motors, electronic controls and sensors, custom die-cast cars,  HO train sets, neodymium magnets, steels, aluminium, copper wire, copper sheet, brass, plastics, assorted wood products, tiles, acrylic and oil-based paints, rubbers and adhesive. Best of all it’s operational!! Its a sight to see.

DIY Wednesday: Spoon rings

A friend of mine spent quite a fair bit of cash on a fork bracelet in Melbourne. Since then, I’ve been wanting to make one of my own, and I finally came across a gorgeous ring tutorial with the same concept by Through the Front Door. Now all I need are my mom’s antique cutlery and the keen ability to manipulate silver. Found via.

Not only am I smitten by Matthew Lyon’s gadget guide illustrations, but I am also taken aback (in a good way) by the way that he writes on his personal blog. Such incandescently directive illustrations against his lucid yet garish descriptions of an otherwise mundane day causes his artwork to be a great read.

More awesome finds at LACMA! I’m a huge fan of vintage cars, and these automobiles from the past really pump me up for a day at the drive-in…. IF we had a drive-in!
