Every now and then, we need a little reminder of how far we’ve come. Dear Photograph is one of those sites that just warms your heart with each post. With a collection of photographs from the past taken in its present state, each image – some hilarious, some touching, some just plain adorable – captures a moment long gone, but far from forgotten. And it is then that we remember the things worth fighting for.

Can one be smitten by a wedding? Alex and James’ super fun and super quirky Superhero wedding makes me wanna get married all over again (to the Superman I’m already married to, of course ;p).
One shoe style, two outfits. It’s like carpooling, but with feet. Okay, that made more sense in my head, but whatever…. Today I’m lusting after a pair of Giuseppe Zanotti calfskin sandals with gold colored opaque metal. They’d soften up the first look that consists of a Humanoid shirt blouse, Mulberry Polly Pushlock shorts, and a Topshop coral leather purse. On the opposite end, they’d really bring a casual feel to a soft Rag and Bone Verona draped dress matched with a Forever21 necklace and a pyramid metal tip clutch from Asos.
One pair of shoes from day to party night. I’m so glad it’s finally Friday!
Since stressed is merely desserts spelled backwards, I’m gonna go ahead and end this super long work day with some sweet stuff: mocha ice-cream cupcakes, Snickers caramel cheesecake cookies, S’Mores bars. Now, if I can just find someone to manipulate into making them for me… Also, just to clarify, I don’t despise nor want Mellowdrone pwned. The opposite, actually. I’ve been wanting to eat Bates up for years now. ‘Coz like a smolderingly sinful dessert, he’s sexy to the core. In fact, once I find someone to manipulate into making the above for me, I’m gonna reward him/her with some old Mellowdrone tunes. And my awesome company, of course… the cherry on the effin’ cherry.
Crap, I digress. Don’t mind today’s delayed post, I’m always fashionably late.
Awhile back, we threw a baby shower for an expecting friend. Instead of ordering yet another gorgeous cake that will inevitably remain uneaten or stuck in her freezer, we made her a diaper cake. Before you freak out over the idea, a diaper cake isn’t as gross as it seems. It’s pretty much a cake made of disposable diapers (disposable as opposed to washable because in all honestly, as a full-time mom, no mother without paid help will have the time nor patience to wash diapers every blardy day) that the mom-to-be can bring home in preparation of the baby’s arrival.
With the help of a basic cake tray, two packets of Drypers, some fresh flowers, matching ribbons, and a whole lot of rolling, the cake ended up looking prettier than we expected. The best part is, it doesn’t go to waste! Needless to say, after throwing many baby showers, this diaper cake was by far the most impressive idea we’ve had in that creative gift/display to make; the expecting mom was grateful for such a practical treat ^_^. For a detailed instruction on how to make your own diaper cake, here’s the video that triggered our successful attempt:
A lot of consumers in Malaysia are prone to NOT supporting local made, claiming our country to be completely devoid of talent and/or creativity. This depresses me, to say the least, especially when there are so many crazy amazing handmade artists simply doodling around our own backyard. We agree to spending triple the amount to purchase anything from anywhere else, but we don’t take the time to get to know our local talents. Yet we make the assumption that they don’t exist.
One of my personal favorite handmade finds is Oh/Ah. This quirky little brand is a collaboration between five local designers with a common interest of all things uniquely hand crafted. Together, they create one-of-a-kind prints that form everything from t-shirts to buttons to jewelry, all of which are lovingly designed and cleverly marketed.
With a collection of frisky badges and printed totes and really ingeniously simple card holders in the form of robots (who doesn’t love robots!), Oh/Ah has something tiny for every happy of the heart. Here are some of my top picks:
If you’re looking for something uniquely Malaysian-made to surprise someone with, I highly recommend a little token of quirk from Oh/Ah, a local delight straight from the yard.
Are you guys sick of me yet? No? Good, ‘coz I’ve been screen (ahahhaa) shopping for chevron clothing! I’m not one of those people who can carry an entire body filled with patterns… not sure if anyone could actually… so I found an ensemble ideal for a downplayed chevron obsession. Okay fine you can’t really wear the scalloped brief out but hey, I’m not calling it an ideal ensemble for nothing! Wish they came in shorts… *diy ding ding ding*
Taking a break from chevron to bring you a special GIN&JACQIE announcement: For only four days, you’ll be able to purchase a GOLD Organize Jacq AND a PINK Organize Anne for the set price of only RM29.90! Simply log on to our shopping site to check out the details, but hurry ‘coz we’ve already sold 6 sets since our FB announcement 15mins ago!
Continuing with my chevron purge, I wanted to make a print to decorate the empty walls of the nursery. I always believe that the best and cheapest way to give your home character is scatter your own works of art all around. Anyway, back to chevron for the nursery. I tried doing the usual zigzag lines, but thought they didn’t portray enough playfulness, especially since my little one is a hyper bundle of uber giddiness and awesomeness. So I decided to put my love for chevron together with my love for daschunds.
Presenting the sausage link chevron print!
I’m really happy with the result of my doodling, and once I get a bigger frame I’m gonna run to the store to get it properly printed out for her room ‘coz this one came out slightly faded thanks to my home printer.
This print is available for custom order, price depending on size. If you’d like one to frolic on the walls of your otherwise boring aka “adult” home, just drop me an email at eleanor@ginjacqie.com. Now, if only I can get Jacqie to print my pooches onto bags ^_^
